Thermostats are, in their own strange way, a key to your home's ability to comfort you. They keep you warm when it's winter, and cool when it's summer — and they give you that awesome feeling of being in control of your surroundings.

Most Reliable Online Car Buying Sites
I have enjoyed many, many years of online shopping and e-commerce. Over my years, I've ordered clothing, jewelry, nail polish, and even food using online sites. But, one thing I never did until my last car was use an online car buying site to find a dealership that had the car I currently own.
Riley Raul ReesePublished 7 years ago in WheelStrong Women Are Not That Strong
Almost a decade ago, in my first year as a Psychology undergraduate student, a colleague of mine said to me, "You are good at picking up the big fights, but you never go for the little ones."It took me a long while to realise what he really wanted to say. Some years later, I had a little glimpse: I was always ready to save others but I would put myself at the very bottom of my "people to save today" list. I could easily move mountains for someone else, but I rarely could engage in something that would lead me to my own happiness. Actually, I would never even think about that detail.
Vanessa DiasPublished 7 years ago in HumansThink Good Thoughts
I remember thinking that I was a pretty positive person and that circumstances just got in the way of the real progress I wanted in my life. Growing up I kept a diary of things that I was dealing with and the questions I had regarding the way things would go. Life would present challenges and I kept my chin up and made sure that I spoke optimistically.

Justin @ VocalPublished 7 years ago in The SwampRevisionist History: Arguing Tutti Frutti with Malcolm Gladwell
“Tutti Frutti, Aw Rooty, Tutti Frutti, Aw Rooty, A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a-wop-bam-boom!" –Little Richard 1955. On a recent episode of his exceptional podcast Revisionist History, journalist Malcolm Gladwell was discussing why country music embraces sadness while rock n’roll tended toward generalism in songwriting. Gladwell’s point was to emphasize the awe-inspiring power of music, especially sad music like that of his other subject on the show, the so-called “King of Tears,” songwriter Bobby Braddock. Braddock is the powerhouse behind such songs as "D.I.V.O.R.C.E" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today," heavily featured on Gladwell’s show.
Sean PatrickPublished 7 years ago in BeatCalling Suicide Selfish is Disingenuous
So, Chester Bennington is dead via suicide. He was the lead singer of one of my favorite all-time bands. Chris Cornell was too and, in fact, if Eminem and RHCP went next that would probably be my all-time top four.
Nathan FoxPublished 7 years ago in PsycheWhat It's Really Like to Have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is widely heard of and spoken about. Yet it is also one of the most misunderstood disorders at the same time. So many people jokingly describe moments of fussiness and particularity as “OCD moments.” There has even been a television show, Monk, which is about a detective with excessive fears of germs and anything which is not 100 percent perfect. But OCD in real life is slightly different from those stereotypes.

Stephen HamiltonPublished 7 years ago in PsycheCommon Myths About Depression

Rowan MarleyPublished 7 years ago in PsycheA Morning Routine to Make the Most of Your Day
Waking up this morning, I smile. 24 brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment.–Thich Nhat Hanh I used to struggle a lot to wake up in the morning and do something for myself. I would feel like a complete failure every time I snoozed the 5 a.m. alarm. I would look at my phone, turn it off, and go back to sleep. It didn't matter how good the plan was on my notebook or how much advice I had taken from articles or books on "how to be an early riser;" it would not simply work out.
Vanessa DiasPublished 7 years ago in LongevityUseful Career Advice You Never Hear from Professionals
If there's one thing I've realized about the professional world, it's that much of the career advice you get in high school is absolute bunk. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that much of the "useful career advice" you get from professionals is also pretty rotten.

Johnny HashPublished 7 years ago in PotentMy Summer Vacation at the Yugoslav Cheapo Film Festival
"The problem with Serbia," my friend Danilo told me, smiling over his beer, "is that here you know everything, but you can do nothing." I couldn't argue with him — six weeks before the fall of Milosevic, Danilo had only this to go on: he made short films, he read Noam Chomsky, he knew the names of obscure American comic-book writers, and last year his grade-school crush had her head blown off by a NATO bomb.
Let Teenagers Be Vocal
I'm outspoken. I kind of always have been, often finding my voice in political movements and social justice, always standing up for what I believe is right.
Kendall WisniewskiPublished 7 years ago in The SwampWhat's Your Number? #9
This was a hard one to write. Not because it's hard to admit Peter is #9 on this list. But because it's hard to talk about him without delving into our relationship and I just don't have the time or energy to do that. So let's just focus on the sexual aspect (the dirty details, if you will) and we'll skip all that other stuff.
