All of our skills are like muscles β we have to keep working them in order to keep them. I recently found some of the work I wrote in high school, and I've got to tell you, it took me on a bit of a trip. The works were all just first, second, or third chapters. I didn't often get much farther than that, at least not documented. I used to be a Wattpad writer, and spent even my middle school years writing half-assed novels that I thought were brilliant. I remember taking notebooks with me everywhere, writing things down and creating all the time. Camping trips were my favorite places for inspiration. Now? Things are a bit different.
PROMPTED: #4
PROMPTED: INTRODUCTION There are now three Prompted Writer's Challenges in the books. Overall, I would consider the series to be a success, but the participation has slowed down. Hopefully, this one will generate some enthusiasm. I am excited to see what the entries will hold!

Iβve been seeing a few unofficial challenges given by Vocal Community members, and I thought: You know what? As someone literally invested in Vocal, I should do that, too. So here is my official, nonofficial challenge to you.
Kenny PennPublished 10 days ago in WritersWriters Appreciation: A Love Letter
Here are some amazing creators I have noticed on Vocal Media this past month, and wanted to quickly shout out! I think writers need some more appreciation, and I think this will be a fun way to do it! (Maybe it'll become a recurring thing, who can say!) But anyway, I wanted to write some little love letters to some amazing people, so here we go!
Why it's not cringey to self-publish your own book
Let's talk frankly for a minute. When many of us writers first dreamt of "being a writer" what we saw in our fantasies was probably something glamorous: a clambering agent, a traditionally published book, and perhaps even a red carpet debut for the movie adaptation of our bestseller. Very few of us initially imagined the perhaps less-glamorous world of self-publishing.
3 Mistakes You Are Making In Your Novel That Are Boring YourΒ Reader
The last thing you want a reader to be when experiencing the world of your novel is to be bored to tears.Β This leads to them either returning your book for their money back, placing it on the shelf never being touched again, or it being donated so that maybe someone else will find enjoyment in it.
