Tulip Mania

A Splash of Colour At The Farm

Who would have thought you could visit a Tulip Farm in the U.K.? I've been growing tulips in my London garden for a while now and know how much they cheer me up as I head into my London garden or look through the window. They add a wonderful splash of colour, especially when the weather is blah blah outside.

I've also been experimenting with the specialist type of Tulips recently, which can be hit and miss depending on the British weather. This year, however, my tulips have done very well. But the Tulip Farm in Surrey has the Wow factor. The spectacular display consists of 500,000 tulips and over 100 varieties. There's no need to go to Amsterdam to see Tulips anymore; the U.K. is catching up. Plus, the farm has added a Dutch feel to the show fields. If you're lucky, you might even see musicians entertaining the guests.

Tulip Mania

Trendy Fad?

I saw the Tulip farm on a TikTok video and booked tickets to Three Bridges, which is 30 minutes on the fast train from London Bridge. The tickets were £20 per person, and my train ticket to Three Bridges was £15 off-peak.

As a Londoner, it's always exciting to escape the big smoke every so often. After a busy week, jumping on the train and heading to the farm was a welcome relief. It's a lovely train journey where you can leave the stresses of London behind.

The Tulip Fest

Once I arrived at Three Bridges, I had the choice of a cab or bus, which would take me directly to the far, but as a Londoner, I was impatient, so I hopped into a taxi. However, I got the bus back, which was an experience as we made our way down the narrow roads.

The Parrot Tulip

The Tulip Farm

There are two parts to the farm. The main working farm has all the animals and the tea room, and then there's the Tulip Farm, which is a mile down the road. I had timed tickets but turned up early and got in without problems. I wasn't expecting to see too many people as it was a weekday. I was so wrong.

There were so many people from everywhere and everywhere on the farm. I'm not a big fan of crowds, but I hoped I wouldn't feel too freaked out if the farm was big.

Stamp of Approval

I approached the entrance and past the truck with the tulips in the back, a photo moment.

The lovely man at reception stamped each person's hand and read the 'riot act' 😆. I wonder how many people listened? He requested everyone keep to the main pathway because the Tulips are delicate. Indeed, that's common sense, right? Wrong. I saw some crazy people do crazy things, and the influencer types made me wince.

I saw people doing dance routines, singing, recording themselves and trying to get the perfect shot. There were mobile phone sticks everywhere. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's a little too much when you're taking away the enjoyment for others and blocking the pathways. I loved how the locals came, observed, and spent some time absorbing the atmosphere before leaving. Influencers take note.

As I made my way past the entrance, I entered the food courtyard first, where several eateries and barns were converted to serve the visitors.

The Wow Factor

I went for the Tulips, and the first look was breathtakingly impressive. The splash of colour brightened up my mood instantly. The tulips were carefully planted, and every variety and colour was displayed.

Perfection

I enjoyed walking around and taking in the stunning sights whilst dodging the irritating influencer types. Each row was wow, and I particularly liked the speciality variety. They were absolutely beautiful.

I had lunch in the open field near the food court and sat with a cup of tea, admiring the stunning tulips.

Would I Go Back?

Yes, but I'd try to find the best time to go. I'd probably phone up to find the best time slot. I wanted to spend more time there and enjoy the scenery, but it was too busy, plus the weather started to cool. They're not open daily.

I'll leave the photos for the rest of the talking.

Admiring The View

As always, thank you for your attention.

The London I've been discovering is usually off the well-beaten track.I love the nooks and crannies and walking along the streets steeped in centuries worth of history. I'm fond of Zone 1 because that's where it all began centuries ago.
