The Last Line
A Poem
I’ve been the last line to many
Just another pretty penny
A daring glance
A lark
A shot in the dark
A tree that harkens you to rub against its bark
Because the universe truly does like to play games with our heart
We were never intended to be here so long
That’s why once you reach this point
You reflect
And so much feels wrong
The longer you think about it
And that’s why so many quit
They want out
Some how
Some way
We know that working this long
The pain
Is worth a lifetime of getting away

Yes, relatable. Particularly like the overall theme and this line “That’s why once you reach this point, You reflect”. ☺️👍
Well-wrought! I can dig the sentiment. I sometimes wondered, especially in the midst of office drudgery, if I was past my expiration date, so to speak. However, when I escape the social hierarchy, in quiet solitary moments, or blissful moments of true connection with cherished friends, I feel immortal. Probably something to that...
Definitely worth getting away! Loved your poem!
Your last line sums it up and loved it!!! "Is worth a lifetime of getting away."
