It's not about You

An ode to passionately change the world

It's not about you and it never has been

I know that sounds rude and harsh but it's true, none of us are special in the grand scheme of things

We are special for our time and our place but we are not the main characters of the play we call life, we are the supporting cast

Going back just 10 generations gives you over 1,000 direct blood related ancestors, and they all fought, thought, built, bled, and struggled to shape the world how they believed it would benefit their kid and their kids' kids

You have ancestors who saw wonders of the world built

You have ancestors who saw the rise and fall of grand empires

You have ancestors who fought in wars around the world

You have ancestors who lived during the Renaissance trying to understand the world more than their ancestors

You see, it was never about them either, for them it was about you, and for you it should be about the next generation.

Whether you fight, think, build, or even just work to make life a little brighter for someone you need to add to the world in some positive way.

Only then can we truly give benefit to the world for those that come after us.

So I ask you this, how will your ancestors see you? Will they see you as someone who fought their hardest to improve the world like they did? Or will they see someone who did nothing and let the world burn around them without any effort to the contrary.

The world will continue long after we are gone, let's make it better than it is.

I often think about my place in thus world. I don't often think about legacy. I do think about lessening my negative impact though. This has made me thoughtful.
