Nicole The Show-Stopper

Nicole, a cat with striking black stripes on her orange fur, still vividly occupies my memory with her playful demeanor and unique presence in our family. She was a star, a really image of joy that until now is still engraved in my heart. Among the nine feline members, Nicole stood out as our version of Garfield—charismatic and unmistakably special, my child, a show-stopper.

From the moment she entered our lives, Nicole was not just a pet but a cherished member of our family. I remember adopting her as a young kitten, alone on the bustling streets of our city. Her big body and small face were irresistible, and her long tail would wag excitedly during our playtime, showcasing her delight and affection. I still remember how my resting moments is filled with laughter and joy, as she was always a part of it.

I remember when my family celebrated her birthday when she turned one. We threw a small birthday party complete with hats and a cake, treating Nicole not merely as a pet but as a family. The festivity was a family affair, with all eight of her feline siblings in attendance, highlighting her special place in our hearts. (I hope they didn't get jealous with her party lol)

Her adventures extended to family trips, such as a visit to my mother's province in Quezon, where Nicole quickly became a showstopper. Her vibrant personality made her the center of attention, and she effortlessly made friends wherever she went. It was during one of these trips that Nicole, to our surprise, became pregnant and later gave birth to two kittens, Muning and Biko, who were eventually adopted by my cousin.

However, not all memories with Nicole are joyous. A distressing incident on Christmas Eve left a permanent mark on our family. While we were busy with holiday preparations, Nicole came to rest at my feet. What seemed like a moment of affection took a tragic turn when she started coughing and then suffered seizures, spitting blood in a horrifying scene. My stepdad rushed out to discover from our neighbor, who was approaching our house, that he had accidentally run over Nicole. The revelation was devastating, and my sister and I couldn't contain our grief as Nicole passed away in front of us.

That Christmas, our home felt incomplete without Nicole's presence. The sudden loss of such an innocent and cherished life was a profound blow, and her absence was deeply felt. The memory of her blue eyes and the warmth she brought into our lives still lingers, evoking sadness even years later.

Our household, though small with just two bedrooms, was never short of life or love. The constant meows and playful antics of our nine cats brought a unique sense of peace and pride to my mother, filling our home with laughter and joy. Nicole, in particular, held a special place in our family dynamics.
