You Want Some Aspirin, Friend?

So, You've hung the crosses on the wall and have reams of garlic around your neck, so what's next? Well, since you're pretty well protected you could pop on a vampire movie that'll scare you silly. The real question is what movie are you gonna watch? Not sure? Don't worry, I've got you covered with these 8 unique vampire flicks that will seriously give you the creeps.

If you're a fan of the Twilight saga then you should probably stop reading now as things are gonna get a little dark...

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN

Want to Be Friends?

A Swedish horror movie first-off, this one involving a mysterious girl called Eli who only comes out at night. Now this one plays like a coming-of-age story albeit with a horror twist. The movie is unsettling to say the least and leads you down some dark paths as it drenches the characters in pints of human blood. Worth seeing for the scene where Eli is baited into entering a home without permission, a staple vampire fact that I don't recall seeing explored before.

NEAR DARK

A western-styled road movie with a farm boy falling for the charms of a sexy temptress who turns out to be (you guessed it) a vampire. Taken prisoner by her family he soon learns what real horror is. Sporting an amazing cast including Bill Paxton and Lance Henrickson, you'd be mad to skip this gritty bloodsucker. One sequence involving a bar full of truckers vs the main vamps is not to be missed because it's "Finger-Lickin' Good".

DOCTOR SLEEP

You're Screwed Now!

Now just hear me out, this sequel to The Shining is more than a simple rehash of the original Stanley Kubrick art film. It features a troop of psychic vampires known as the True Knot who, to survive, must live off the psychic energy of children. They literally torture the kiddies to death in the most painful way to purify 'the steam' that will give them the energy to stay young and alive for decades to come. A fantastic novel by Stephen King and a great film that has some truly unsettling sequences.

AFFLICTED

Who YOU Looking At?

A very modern take on the vampire genre here with this found footage-styled effort. When a terminally ill Youtuber embarks around the world on his bucket list, he gets bitten and starts to have unusual side effects take over his body. This movie is exceptional and a must-see, not just for the sequence where said character pulls his old eyes out...yep!

30 DAYS OF NIGHT

No God!

Another great premise here as inhabitants of a town in Alaska are plunged into 30 days of terror when vampires turn up to drink their fill. Josh Hartnett leads the cast as the small-time Sheriff that's pushed to his limits. Worth it to see some genuinely terrifying vampire characters that don't need to romance their victims, they simply slice and dice 'em. A bloody good show all in all.

FRIGHT NIGHT

Playing like an homage to a bygone era of Hammer horror vampire flicks, Fright Night perfectly turns everything on its head by having a ferocious vamp' living next door. Mix in a washed-up movie star (McDowall) and some teenagers fighting to stay alive, you've got a horror/Comedy that delivers the goods. It'll have you screaming "YOU'RE SO COOL BREWSTER!" before you know it.

DRACULA

I'll Take ALL Your Blood Now!

One of the most faithful and stylish adaptions of Bram Stoker's work ever produced has to be this 1992 release. Gary Oldman plays the ancient blood-sucker who menaces Jonathan Harker played by a young Keanu Reeves. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola who really went above and beyond to get his original vision on screen. It has so many amazing sequences it's quite simply a masterpiece and needs to be seen to be believed. It's already "crossed oceans of time" to meet you...

LOST BOYS

Eat Those Worms Michael

Possibly the most famous 80s vampire movie EVER! Starring a young Kiefer Sutherland and Corey Feldman just to name a few. When a new kid joins a biker gang, it seems they want him to become a permanent member forever!! Scary and fun in equal measures, it's a no holds barred rollercoaster with some really cool Vamp kills mixed in. If you haven't seen this one you're probably dead already.

Scared Yet?

Hopefully, I've given you a few options for movies that might have passed you by over the centuries. If you enjoyed this article click on that heart sign so I know you did and I'll write more. I'll leave you by saying that vampires aren't real...well as far as I know anyway.
