  • I realize it's probably not what you intended, but that last line got me thinking about the current conflicts over the teaching of history. Some feel that the teaching of certain histories can be harmful. Others counter that ignorance of history generates false hope. But is even false hope for the future better than cynical acceptance of being doomed to repeat the past?
