Everlasting

She is the silvered moon amid a sea of stars.

And in an open sky she is calm and luminous,

when all else has grown cold and dark.

She is the scent of lilac on satin.

A cardinal’s trill in vast silence.

And her laughter is sunlight in the spring

To melt away winter’s melancholy,

Warming the soul in its tender embrace.

“I will love you always my darling”

And to those words I ardently cling,

For a mother’s love is boundless.

And like the beauty I see in all things,

It is everlasting.
