Spouse: The Spouse is a female ghost who had some unsatisfied desire to live and died unmarried. The word petni is derived from the Sanskrit word pretini (masculine word pret). These ghosts can usually take any shape, even male. They are usually committed to some crime while alive and roam the earth cursed after death. Wives are usually very ill-tempered and are apparently in human form until they attack someone. The only problem with the shape of wives is that their legs are turned backwards. There is only one way to know them and that is by looking at their feet. Although they can hold a normal female posture, their legs are still rotated backward, i.e., they and the feet and toes are rotated backward even in a human posture.

Shakchunni: The word Shakchunni is derived from the Sanskrit word Shankhachurni. It is the ghost of Hindu married women, who wear specially made Bengali white cloth saree and carry a conch or conch in their hand. Shankha is the symbol of Bengali married Hindu women. Shakchunnis usually prey on or attack rich married women so that they themselves can live like that woman and enjoy married life. According to folklore, they live in cedar trees.

Chorachunni: Chorachunni is a very evil ghost. They harm people. Usually a thief becomes a smuggler when he dies. They come out on full moon night and enter people's houses and do mischief. To ward off them, arrangements are made to sprinkle Ganges water (Ganges water is considered holy water in Hindu culture) at home.

Squirrel: This type of ghost is not commonly seen. The owl ghost concept comes from the owl. Its feminine form is Penchi. They live in pairs and hunt in pairs. They are believed to be found in various forests of Bengal. They usually pursue hapless travelers in the jungle and attack and kill the traveler completely alone and tear the prey to pieces.

Mechobhuta: These types of ghosts like to eat fish. The word mechho is derived from Bengali fish. Mechho Bhoots usually live near a village pond or water body, where fish are plentiful. Sometimes they also steal fish from Gerstha's kitchen or fishermen's boats. When someone buys fish from the market and returns through the village road, it follows him and snatches the fish by intimidatingly attacking a secluded bamboo grove or bank.

Deo: This type of ghost lives in ponds, rivers and various bodies of water. They are believed to drown people by throwing them into the water. If they find the people coming to bathe alone in the reservoir, they pull their feet from the bottom and take them deep into the water. This causes the person to die of suffocation.

Nishi: One of the most dangerous of ghosts is Nishi. Other ghosts usually attack people when they are alone in secluded areas. But late at night Nishi calls the victim by name in the voice of his beloved and takes him out. Responding to Nishi's call, the people were hypnotized and opened the door of the house and went out; Never comes back. It is believed that they themselves become Nishis. Some Tantrics use Nishi Pusha to take revenge against others. According to folklore, a Nishi cannot call a person more than three times. Therefore, in rural Bengal, it is believed that one should leave the house only after calling more than three times in the night. In this way, there is no fear of Nishi's attack.

Mamdo Bhoot: According to Hindu belief, it is the spirit of Muslim persons. Their body structure is strange. Tapered gradually from below the waist. They have no legs and float in the air. Some of them have hats and long beards. They usually live in and around cemeteries in large and dense trees and are said to frighten anyone who passes by in various ways.

Gechobhut: Gechobhut lives in trees. The word Gechho is derived from the word வாக்க (tree). According to folklore, people who commit suicide by hanging themselves on a tree branch, their souls remain in the tree and become gecho ghosts. But they live in different trees. Big and bushy trees are their favorite shelter. They scare people in different ways. The most popular belief about them is that when a person walks alone at night, they are hanged from a tree. As a result, the person loses consciousness due to extreme fear. According to some, their body structure is similar to that of monkeys and they live in palm trees. And according to the commentary of some (those who have seen it) they come down from the palm tree like a lizard walks on a wall, i.e. they come down the tree with their head down and their feet up.

Brahmadaitya

Joka Ghost: This type of ghost lives in ponds, rivers and various water bodies. A good Joka (Dhanjoka) is said to give wealth to other people. Their height is short, skin color is generally black.

Brahmadaitya: These types of ghosts are the most popular and usually do not harm anyone. Such ghosts are the ghosts of Brahman. Usually they walk around dressed in white dhoti and paita. They are considered as holy ghosts. They are very kind and helpful to people. Their characters are depicted in various Bengali films.

Alea: Alea can be seen in swamps or open desert in the dark of night. Flames started to burn a little higher than the ground.
