Does Ava love Sonny or Nikolas on General Hospital

It's difficult to read what Ms. Jerome is really thinking now that she paid her ex a visit in prison.

What's really going on with these two?

What's going on with Ava and Nikolas?

On Monday, at General Hospital, Ava Jerome (Maura West) visited Nikolas Casdsadine, (Adam Huss) who had been shipped to a prison far away from Port Charles. During the past year Ava had seemed angry with her former husband and intent on making him pay for cheating on her with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) and fathering Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay).

Now out of the blue Ava pays her ex a visit when she has not mentioned his name except when speaking with his mother. She was never shown visiting Nikolas or even mentioning going to see him did while he was still incarcerated in Port Charles. Laura Collins (Genie Francis ) recently announced that her son was being sent away to prison, and some fans and spoilers assumed this meant the character was gone for good.

Why visit Nik and confide in him now?

What made Ava decide to visit now and spill her guts to someone she says she loathes? This meeting of the two kindred spirits and Ava sharing her intimate secrets sets the stage for either a future reunion when Nikolas gets out of jail or for him to blackmail her with this new information.

She confided in her former spouse that she enjoys living with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Ava also shared with the Cassadine Prince that she knows Sonny's medication has been tampered with, and he is receiving a lesser dose than he needs.

Prince Nik asked if Ava was behind the medication issue, and she said no. He then warned his ex-wife that she was playing a dangerous game and should tell the mob boss what was happening.

Are Nava still in love?

Ava said it sounded like Nikolas still cared and he replied that he did. Some General Hospital fans had believed Ava was falling in love with Sonny, but a different scenario emerged during her conversation with Nik. Ms. Jerome seems interested in the power that comes with living in the home with her daughter's bio dad and being his confidant. She enjoys being on his good side while everyone else has alienated him, at least in his mind.

Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) now knows Ava was playing the long game when she suggested that Nina report Carly and Drew for insider trading. Now Nina has finally signed divorce papers from Sonny and told Ava, "Have at it." Will Ava go so far as to sleep with her baby daddy, knowing he is not in his right mind and making rash decisions? Does she have a dream of becoming the next Mrs. Corinthos, or is she only after the power and prestige?

Just before leaving the prison, Ava reached out and placed her hand on Nik's. At that moment, it looked as if Nava still cared deeply for each other. General Hospital has only been using Adam Huss sporadically, which Marcus Coloma disagreed with when he was in the role, so his contract still needs to be renewed.

What is Ava's long game?

There is a reason the writers sent Ava to visit Nikolas, and this may be a game changer regarding her plans. The General Hospital execs are keeping Nik around for a reason, even though he is not on-screen full-time. Adam Huss recently stated that he is thankful for the fans who have reached out to him and are enjoying him in the role.

Be on the lookout for updates about Huss and whether he might get more screen time. Keep watching the Port Charles action to find out what Ava is really up to and whether it is Sonny, Nikolas, or neither who has her heart.
